What did you do today?

What did you do today? Before I get into that, I have compared scripture and read a few articles giving their thoughts on what happens after we die. I’ve wondered about this several times in my life, and depending on who you ask or what you read you’ll get different views. They do vary. I don’t know any more now than I did then…Here’s a short take on it. Nothing in depth, just a few notes of the views.

Some believe we fall sleep and are unconscious while our spirit returns to God and the soul returns to dust from where we came. (Ecclesiastes 12:7)… (In judgment I would imagine the spirit returns to the new incorruptible body.)

Some hold views that we are very much conscious and enter a Paradise or Hades. The Rich man and Lazarus gives the most popular reasoning for that theory. The thief on the cross was promised by Jesus that he would join Jesus that day in Paradise. (Luke 23:43)

The most popular view seems to be that when we die we go directly to Heaven or Hell. As the Apostle Paul explains, It’s better for me to be here with you- but to die and be with Christ is gain. (Philippians 1:21-26) ..

I lost my wife to Cancer in July, of 23. I thought about these theories I just mentioned, and a lot of questions and imaginations started filling my head. I had looked at a house plant that was blooming and thought at first how I hate that she is missing it. We had waited so long for this plant to bloom. My daughter got it for her in 2017. It only bloomed once in 6 years since she had it. It started blooming this October, around our anniversary, and opened up in November, right before her birthday and Thanksgiving. Then it crossed my mind that she is actually seeing things way more beautiful than this house plant. Unfathomable visions in Glory! After I thought about the plant I started wondering what she was actually doing. I ask myself, seriously, what is she doing today?

I can only imagine. What your eyes would see. When His Holy face is before you. Standing in the Son. singing, worshipping, praising Him in His presence, falling down before Him to your knees, and dancing! I hope you do the Mary Margaret dance. Celebrate no more annoying pain from that tumor. No more fatigue, cramps, nausea, head aches, falling. Now you’re able to stand and walk or run long distance without hurting and without that walker. Who knows you may even be able to fly…I don’t know! No more pain pills. The perfect weight. The perfect body weight and your hair is thick and not so fine even though I loved it like it was. What did you do today? Did you get an escort? Are the streets really gold? Can you go to the beach? If so, you can go now! Have you met with any of our families? I’m sure you’re surrounded with children! Do you get to wear jeans? I bet sitting at the table with the King is awesome. Did you get a new name? Did you pick any daisies? I know those are your favorite. I hope there are blue ones just for you. Have you met all the apostles? How about Moses? Did you decorate your new house with heavens own beautiful luxury items? Did the other Mary help you? Is it busy there? What did you do today? Are you assigned to a certain task each day to serve or can you do as you please. Is there an assembly of billions? Did you sing loud? I know you did, and on key! How is the music? Do you eat? Drink? Is your body spirit and is everyone the same age? I don’t know what you did today, but I know you’ve enjoyed it. I know you’ve met angels and all kinds of heavenly host that we were never told about. I won’t bore you with all the details about what’s going on here, cause I know it won’t compare. I just miss taking your picture, hearing your voice, and touching you. I’m keeping my bags packed so I don’t miss the flight when it’s time to go. I trust the Pilot. He told me to always be ready…I believe Him. I have no idea what you did today, but I do know you got your Joy now and we’re so happy for you!
