So this is Christmas

Early morning sounds of little feet scampering through the house. Still in PJs with bed head hair styles, running to their brother and sisiter whispering loudly, “Santa came!”

Soon Mom and Dad would hurry to get out of bed to be sure to capture any pictures of young wided eyes, starring at what santa had left under the tree during the night.

Almost immediatley they would go to their knees and begin opening the gifts with giggles and shouts of “look what I got!”.

An array of gift wrappinng paper begins to pile up on the floor under and around the Christmas tree as Mom and Dad still yawn with coffee in their hand watching with smiles, knowing Santa did good.

Later a trip to Grandma and Granpa’s house for lunch will prove to be even more exciting being sure to take that doll or truck you got from Santa with you. All the cousins will be there too showing off there new shirt and boots or game device they got.

The adults will be sitting and visiting as they discuss a favorite football team or coach, politics, gas prices while making the trip in, or a favorite pie recipe, a new movie, or aboout someone that has been sick for a while.

Now, as the aroma from the kitchen makes its way into the living area, some of the others have been making sure that all the fixings are set on the table and all the glasses have ice, and are filled with tea. It’s time to eat. Prayers of thanks are said from the eldest in the house.

Someone mentions the birth of Jesus and Christmas. The conversation leads into politics about Israel and the cold weather were having.

Gifts are passed around for everyone. A pair of socks, candles, scarf, gloves, and a picture frame.

Now everyone says goodbye heading home. Then that night as bed time comes, kids are exhausted, parents too. Crashed on the pillows for a good nights sleep from a busy Christmas day.

So this is Christmas. Thank you Jesus. You have saved us from the curse of the Law. You took death in our place. You were indeed the Light that has come into the world. And we celebrate!
