Reflecting on today’s Mill Hill service, I began giving some thought into how it would have looked if Jesus would have been physically amongst us today. I will never know, so I can only imagine.
The prayer tent. There were several who were willing to come and sit in a chair, hearts heavy, maybe broken, and with things that were on their hearts that needed attention and resolve. They knew there was power in the name of Jesus, or at the least came looking for hope that there was.
I’m sure Jesus would have been busy, as was brother Frankie today. Jesus would have been bringing sight to the blind, music for the deaf, a tall stance for the paralyzed so that everyone would know he indeed was the Son of God. Shouts of joy and music would have been ringing! People would have been flooding through the driveway just to get a glimpse of the one who heals and calls himself Jesus. But because he did all that two thousand years ago, we can absolutely trust in his name and believe he went to the cross for us and was nailed there in pain and unfathomable agony after enduring stripes, insults, sweating wounds filling with dirt and blinded from the blood running into his eyes from his crown placed on his head. All because he loved us. That tent is where Jesus was today. You could see him and you could hear him. He was comforting, calling, touching, reminding, pleading, encouraging, and definitely loving and spiritually healing each and everyone who sat under its roof without walls. Several prayed today.
The Food, There was a big grill covered with hot dogs and burgers ready to feed those who entered the gate. Jesus would have spent time visiting there. He knows the importance of feeding many. He’s done that before with a basket of fish and bread turning it into a meal for five thousand. He would have given out some hugs, maybe shared a recipe or two with the cook, complimented the way everything was being handled, and took notice of the hearts of everyone serving the meals. I saw him there. I sure did. He spoke kindly to those that walked up and asked them what they would like and directed them to spiritual counsel and prayer if they wanted. He filled the burgers and dogs with no complaints at all. He filled each plate with care as if it was for himself. He was smiling the whole time he was in that area serving and loving on people. Making sure no one was missed. He was doing it to please His father.
Into the byways they went. There was a flock of what looked like Jesus and His disciples walking the streets in Mill Hill. Brother Mark and several others were walking and looking for those who may not be aware of what Jesus has to offer. They were out seeking for those who may be lost and to let them know Jesus is well aware of them. Calling out to them, praying over them, letting them know there is food. Letting them know they care. Jesus knew exactly what to ask. Jesus knew exactly how to answer. Jesus knew the mind and thoughts of each and every person encountered today on those streets. I saw Jesus on those streets. He was walking with many, with only one purpose in mind. To let them know they are not forgotten. They are loved. They are not alone. To let them know there is hope, and He cares deeply for their soul. Jesus got up from wherever he was and unselfishly took himself to where they were to remind them that he loves them.
There was Hope on Mill Hill today because Jesus was there. Seeds were planted in the hearts of some prodigals and hope was given to several who just needed some light in their life. Some saw Jesus on the street. Some saw Jesus serving food. Some saw Jesus praying. I believe what needed to be accomplished today was accomplished. People met Jesus today and that’s what matters.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
