The Tonya Hill Matthews Deacon Jones Nissan Cause For a while it looked like this story would have a wonderful ending.
Tonya returned to her job at the bank…life looked like it was returning to
normal again. Tragically test results now reveal cancer has spread to her
lymph glands and is inoperable. Tonya will again begin a new round of
chemotherapy to keep it controlled and also a new clinical trial where she
will service at the first recipient at SMOC. Despite all of this…Tonya has a wonderful attitude, a zest for the life
she has left, and a smile that will not stop. Broadcasting Hope has been
honored to be a part of her story that is ongoing.
Tonya
Hill Matthews is a 34-year old single mother from Mount Olive NC. She has
been an employee of a local bank, and had been enjoying life with her 8-year
old daughter Hailey until she started having a health issue that just
wouldn’t go away. First she was told she had an infection, and even after a
mammogram there was no explanation. But after a biopsy, it was discovered
she had stage 4 cancer in one of her breasts.
Tonya endured a complete mastectomy and has received ongoing care led by Dr.
James Atkins of SMOC. And at the end of the Broadcasting Hope Campaign,
Scott Johnson and Deacon Jones Nissan helped Tonya with an amazing financial
gift.
