The Max McNair Honda Hyundai of Goldsboro Cause

Max is a 13-year old boy who should be entering Eastern Wayne High School, but was diagnosed on April 24th of 2008 with a brain tumor known as a medullablastoma, and two days later had to endure a long and intense surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. The kind of tumor Max has is best described as a highly malignant primary brain tumor that can be invasive, grow rapidly, and unlike most brain tumors spread and metastasize to different locations in the brain and spine. This means he will have to endure 33 radiation treatments and 14 months of chemotherapy.

Max is the son of Dena McNair, and has two other siblings (Brother 11, Sister 17). The children live with Dena who is a single mother, and all of them have been devastated by how their lives have been completely turned upside down. Dena is a waitress at Wilbur’s BBQ and is being supported by Max’s Great Grandmother, Ms. Ruth Cramer, who is a waitress at Pizza Inn, and although she is receiving Medicaid it’s simply not enough. The whole family has huge needs to pay bills, transportation, and ongoing expenses.
